During the meeting, Malwarebytes announced the launch of a new consumer solution called Identity Theft Protection. This service aims to help individuals secure their digital identities and defend against identity and online threats. It includes features such as real-time identity monitoring and alerts, credit protection and reporting, live agent-supported identity recovery and resolution services, and an identity theft insurance policy of up to $2 million.
Research conducted by Malwarebytes revealed that identity theft ranks as the third biggest concern for online security, following fear of financial accounts and personal data being breached. However, despite the importance of identity theft protection, only 13% of those surveyed have it. Malwarebytes aims to provide consumers with a trustworthy tool that not only blocks malware and phishing threats but also monitors and protects their digital identity across various platforms, including social media profiles, bank accounts, and email.
Malwarebytes Identity Theft Protection is available globally and offers tiered offerings for both computers and mobile devices on multiple operating systems. Key features include identity monitoring and alerts, credit monitoring and protection, breach IQ (which provides a safety score and alerts if personal information is part of a known breach), and identity recovery and resolution services. The service also includes up to a $2 million insurance policy.
