AMD is investigating a potential cyberattack after data, including employee information and financial documents, was offered for sale on a hacking forum. The threat actor, IntelBroker, claims to possess the stolen AMD data but has not disclosed pricing or acquisition details. AMD is collaborating with law enforcement and a third-party host for investigation.
Based on the meeting notes, it appears that AMD is currently investigating a potential cyberattack. A threat actor named IntelBroker has claimed to be in possession of allegedly stolen data from AMD, including employee information, financial documents, and confidential data. AMD is working closely with law enforcement officials and a third-party hosting partner to verify the claim and assess the significance of the data. The threat actor has shared some screenshots of the stolen credentials and is offering the data for sale on a hacking forum. The compromised data allegedly includes details about future AMD products, employee databases, customer databases, property files, ROMs, source code, firmware, and finances. It also includes an employee database with user IDs, names, job functions, business phone numbers, email addresses, and employment status.
Furthermore, IntelBroker has a history of previous breaches, including the breach of DC Health Link which led to a congressional hearing, as well as the breach of the Europol Platform for Experts (EPE), used for sharing information between international law enforcement agencies. Additionally, in June 2022, AMD investigated a breach by the RansomHouse extortion gang, who claimed to have stolen 450GB of data.
It is evident that AMD is facing a serious cybersecurity threat, and it is crucial for the company to take immediate and decisive action to protect its data and systems.
