Wise and Affirm acknowledge the impact of the recent Evolve Bank data breach on their customers. The cybercriminals gained access to customer and financial technology partner information, affecting customers who used both companies’ services. Evolve clarified that the ransomware group LockBit was behind the attack, compromising various personal and banking customer information.
The meeting notes indicate that Evolve Bank suffered a data breach impacting customers of financial technology partners Wise and Affirm. The breach was attributed to the LockBit ransomware group. Customer data compromised includes names, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and contact information. It has been reported that Wise’s systems were not impacted, and affected customers will be directly contacted. Furthermore, Affirm declared that their information systems were not compromised, and they believe that the personal information of some Affirm Card users was compromised. Evolve Bank has confirmed that the cybercriminals gained access to its systems after an employee clicked on a malicious link but stated that customer funds were not accessed. The company refused to pay the ransom demanded and the cybercriminals leaked the data they downloaded. It has also been revealed that personal information belonging to its employees was compromised.
