The DARPA AI Cyber Challenge has narrowed down to seven semifinalists. The contest aimed at developing AI models to enhance open source code security in critical infrastructure. Semifinalists successfully identified and patched vulnerabilities, earning a $2 million prize and a spot in the finals. Finalists must agree to open source their work and compete for cash prizes.

From the meeting notes, I have gathered that the DARPA AI Cyber Challenge (AIxCC) has successfully narrowed down its pool of contestants to seven semifinalists. The challenge saw teams competing to build AI models to secure open source code used in critical infrastructure. The teams identified and patched vulnerabilities in challenges related to Jenkins, the Linux kernel, Nginx, SQLite3, and Apache Tika. These semifinalists will move on to the finals and compete for substantial cash prizes, with the caveat that they have to agree to open source their work. The Linux Foundation’s Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) will become stewards of the models developed by the winning teams. The finalists will be competing for a $4 million top prize, with second and third place earning $3 million and $1.5 million, respectively. This event has been funded by DARPA and also received support from the Advanced Research Project Agency for Health (ARPA-H).
