Zandra Ellis, a 34-year-old woman from New Orleans, has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for using a fake hitman website, Rentahitman.com, to try and hire a contract killer to eliminate her rival. However, the hitman turned out to be an FBI agent. Ellis pleaded guilty to transmitting threatening communications and will also serve three years under supervised release. The website, Rentahitman.com, is a parody and not a real hitman-for-hire site.
During the meeting, it was discussed that a woman named Zandra Ellis from New Orleans was sentenced to 18 months in jail for attempting to hire a contract killer through a website called Rentahitman.com. However, the website turned out to be a parody and the assassin was actually an undercover FBI agent. Ellis had submitted a request on the website using the pseudonym “Jasmine Brown” but also provided her real email address, phone number, and address. She indicated in the request that she wanted to kill a woman identified as “BH” because BH was allegedly trying to kill her. The website claimed to be “100% HIPPA Compliant” (referring to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), and even had a privacy statement that linked to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center. After receiving Ellis’ request, the website’s webmaster contacted the FBI and an undercover agent called Ellis, using the name “Ace.” They agreed to a price of $1,000 for the hit, with Ellis paying $100 upfront. They also planned to meet at a Waffle House in New Orleans for Ellis to make the down payment. Ellis showed up at the restaurant with her child in a stroller, and during the meeting, she confirmed her real name was Zandra Ellis, expressed her feud with BH over social media, admitted wanting BH killed, paid the agent $100, and agreed to pay the remaining balance in installments. Ellis was arrested as she left the Waffle House and was found to be in possession of a pistol with live rounds.
