Microsoft has addressed Wi-Fi network connectivity issues on Windows 11 caused by recent updates, confirming the problem and providing fixes. The issue affects enterprise, education, and public Wi-Fi networks on Windows 11, and has been resolved through Known Issue Rollback. Users can uninstall specific updates and use a troubleshooter until the fix is fully deployed.
The meeting notes highlight that Microsoft has resolved a Wi-Fi network connectivity issue on Windows 11 systems triggered by recent cumulative updates. The issue was confirmed after a surge of user reports and advisories from universities. It specifically affected Wi-Fi adapters connecting to enterprise, education, or public networks using 802.1x authentication on Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 11 22H2 platforms.
Microsoft employed the Known Issue Rollback (KIR) feature to reverse the flawed non-security updates. The fix could take up to 24 hours to roll out to all impacted devices, with the option for users to reboot affected Windows 11 devices for quicker deployment. Redmond also provided a KIR Group Policy for enterprise-managed devices.
There are steps provided for users to uninstall the specific updates, with the option to use the ‘Show or Hide Updates’ troubleshooter to prevent the updates from reappearing. Additionally, a troubleshooter tool has been released to remove the HP Smart app and restore printer names on impacted devices.
