VF Corporation reported a ransomware attack in December, with over 35 million customers’ personal data stolen, but no sensitive payment information affected. The attack disrupted business operations, leading to inventory and order fulfillment issues. VF Corp has restored most IT systems and is cooperating with authorities in investigating the incident.

According to the meeting notes, VF Corporation, the parent company of well-known brands such as Vans, Timberland, The North Face, Dickies, and Supreme, experienced a ransomware attack in December. This resulted in the theft of personal data of over 35 million individual consumers. However, the company reported that no social security numbers, bank account information, or payment card details were affected as they do not store such data on their systems.

The attack disrupted VF Corp’s business operations, leading to the encryption of some IT systems, data theft, and operational impacts such as delays in retail store inventory replenishment and order fulfillment. The company has since made progress in restoring its IT systems and reports minimal issues in its retail stores, e-commerce sites, and distribution centers.

While VF Corp has yet to inform its customers of the incident or disclose the nature of the data impacted, it is actively cooperating with law enforcement and regulatory authorities to investigate the attack and its impact.

It’s worth noting that VF Corp has not detected any evidence so far that consumer passwords were acquired by the threat actor. Additionally, the company’s annual revenue was reported to be $11.6 billion, and it employs 35,000 people, owning 13 globally recognized brands.
