Ex-Meta VP sued for allegedly stealing confidential documents to aid a new AI cloud startup. During his 12-year tenure, Dipinder Singh Khurana rose to VP of infrastructure before leaving for a stealth-mode startup. Meta accuses him of taking sensitive data and luring employees to his new employer, resulting in multiple charges being filed against him.
Meeting Notes Takeaways:
Dipinder Singh Khurana, also known as T.S. Khurana, a former vice-president of infrastructure at Meta, is being sued by Meta for allegedly stealing confidential documents before departing to join a startup.
According to Meta’s complaint, Khurana allegedly took a variety of sensitive documents related to Meta’s business operations, including supplier and vendor contracts, payroll and recruiting files, and employee-related information.
One specific document mentioned in the complaint is an internal “Top Talent” spreadsheet, which Meta believes was transferred to Khurana’s new work computer, and subsequently, several of Khurana’s former colleagues left Meta to join his new employer.
Meta has charged Khurana with breach of contract, breach of loyalty, breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, and violating California’s computer crime laws.
Meta is seeking damages and the return of any benefits Khurana obtained as a result of the alleged theft. However, Khurana has not yet responded to these allegations in court.
A Meta spokesperson stated that the company takes this kind of misconduct seriously and is committed to protecting confidential business and employee information. Efforts to contact Khurana for his response have been unsuccessful so far.
