Increased training and greater cybersecurity awareness have led to an 11% decrease in cyber threats in Kenya, according to the Kenya Computer Incident Response Team Coordination Centre (KE-CIRT/CC). Between July 2022 and June 2023, Kenya experienced over 855 million cyber threats, making it the third most targeted country in the region. System attacks accounted for over 100 million of the detections, including a DDoS attack on the e-citizen digital platform in July.
Key takeaways from the meeting notes:
1. Kenya has seen a significant 11% decrease in cyber threats, which is attributed to increased training of frontline cybersecurity personnel and greater cybersecurity awareness.
2. According to the July-September 2023 report from KE-CIRT/CC, nearly 124 million cyber threat events were detected, marking an 11.36% decrease from the previous quarter.
