AI 'Will Have a Significant Impact on Energy Industry,' EPRI Tells Congress

EPRI Senior Technical Executive, Jeremy Renshaw, testified before a U.S. House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on the benefits and challenges of using artificial intelligence (AI) in the energy sector. EPRI has been studying AI’s potential impacts on the energy sector for over a decade and has been involved in over 70 AI-related projects. AI can improve efficiency, assist with wildfire risk evaluation and storm recovery, and optimize energy usage. Renshaw emphasized the need for data privacy and security, AI-assisted cybersecurity, quality data, and workforce training. AI is expected to have a significant impact on the energy industry.
