The report also shows increased workloads and frustration with manual tasks. More information can be found on Tines’ website.

The meeting notes reveal the key findings from the 2023 Voice of the SOC report published by Tines. The report surveyed 900 security decision-makers and practitioners and found that 63% of them are experiencing burnout due to cyberattacks, internal pressures, and limited resources. It was also found that 90% of security teams are automating at least some of their work, with 93% believing that more automation would improve their work-life balance.

The report highlights the challenges faced by SOC teams, including too much data, tedious tasks, and reporting requirements. These challenges are further compounded by a lack of time, budget, tools, and personnel. Spending time on manual work was identified as the most frustrating aspect of the job.

Automation was found to be an effective solution for streamlining processes and achieving operational efficiencies. The majority of SOC teams (92%) have already adopted automation to some extent. The report also identified specific tasks that security professionals would like to automate, such as intelligence analysis and threat hunting, and highlighted high-impact tasks they could focus on if automation was fully deployed.

Other key findings include an increase in workloads for over 80% of respondents, a rise in job satisfaction from 88% to 99%, and a high level of engagement among analysts (98%).
