SonicWall, a channel-focused cybersecurity company, has announced its acquisition of MSSP Solutions Granted. This move comes in response to customer demand for managed detection and response (MDR) and extended detection and response (XDR) services. The acquisition will allow SonicWall to provide these services for the first time, along with a US-based security operations center. The details of the financial transaction were not disclosed. The company also plans to expand its offerings and launch a Europe-based SOC in the coming months.
SonicWall, the channel-focused cybersecurity company, has made its first acquisition in over a decade. It is buying Virginia-based MSSP Solutions Granted to meet the growing customer demand for managed detection and response (MDR) and extended detection and response (XDR) services. SonicWall’s CEO, Bob VanKirk, stated that during his recent trip to Europe, many partner conversations revolved around the request for MDR services. The acquisition of Solutions Granted will provide SonicWall with capabilities in managed detection and response for endpoint, cloud, vulnerability management, and a proven track record of success.
VanKirk emphasized that the addition of MDR and XDR services is essential for SonicWall’s growth and to better serve its existing partners. The company has been focusing on its partner go-to-market strategy, revamping its program to better support partners and provide the necessary capabilities. SonicWall sees MSPs and MSSPs as crucial players in addressing the skills gap and the growing complexity of cybersecurity threats.
Although financial details have not been disclosed, all Solutions Granted employees will be retained and join SonicWall, an aspect that was of great importance to Solutions Granted’s CEO, Michael Crean. SonicWall has been busy throughout the year, with leadership role replacements and the launch of its updated SecureFirst partner program. The enhancements to the program, initially released to North American partners, received overwhelmingly positive feedback and will be extended to EMEA in the new year.
In the coming weeks, SonicWall plans to support additional endpoints, such as Microsoft Defender, and announce developments related to AI for automation. The company aims to leverage AI as a key component of its scaling efforts to provide value-added services to its partner network, which consists of over 10,000 partners. Additionally, SonicWall will be launching a Europe-based security operations center (SOC) in the next few months, taking into consideration feedback from European partners and focusing on talent acquisition.
The specific location and launch date of the SOC are yet to be disclosed, but SonicWall emphasizes the importance of having the right talent rather than being in a single location. The company will consider factors such as language support and time zones when staffing the SOC.
