The drills aim to measure the ability to address attacks and threats, and improve coordination, expertise, and response capabilities. This is part of Qatar’s National Cyber Security Strategy to enhance organizations’ ability to respond and recover from cyber incidents. The first drills were held in 2015 with 35 organizations participating from critical sectors.
The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) in Qatar is currently conducting cyber drills to test the security postures of around 170 important organizations. These drills allow executives and decision makers to practice their cybersecurity processes, collaboration efforts, and resilience plans. The goal of these drills is to identify any weaknesses in cyber defenses, evaluate readiness in handling cyber threats, and measure response capabilities. While the participants for this year were not mentioned, both the Ministry of Transport and Qatari Steel have previously taken part in these exercises. Qatari Steel, for example, used the drills to assess their coordination, expertise, and response to potential cyberattacks. These drills are part of Qatar’s National Cyber Security Strategy, where organizations aim to respond, resolve, and recover from cyber incidents through information sharing, collaboration, and action. Qatar has been conducting cybersecurity exercises and drills since 2015, with the participation of organizations from critical sectors such as finance, telecommunications, energy, government, transportation, aviation, and health.
