Anonymous Sudan launched a “massive cyberattack” on Sudachad, a telecommunications provider in Chad. The attack targeted critical infrastructure, leading to a collapse in Internet connectivity on Jan. 10. The group cited Chad’s support for the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces as the motive. Sudachad holds a 20-year concession agreement for Chad’s government fiber assets.
Based on the meeting notes, it appears that the telecommunications provider Sudachad has been targeted by a significant cyberattack, as reported by an anonymous group from Sudan. The attack aimed at the telco’s infrastructure, including critical routers and network administration. This has led to a collapse in Internet connectivity from Sudachad on Jan. 10, as noted by the network monitoring service NetBlocks. The group behind the attack, known as Anonymous Sudan, has a history of conducting DDoS attacks and has cited Chad’s support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as a motive for the cyberattack. Additionally, Sudachad is the sole provider of wholesale Internet capacities for Chad, operating under an exclusive concession agreement.
