Two UK cold-calling companies, Poxell Ltd and Skean Homes Ltd, face £150,000 and £100,000 fines, respectively, for making millions of unsolicited marketing calls to individuals on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). The ICO found both companies in violation of regulations, emphasizing the need to prevent unwanted marketing and protect individual privacy.

The meeting notes detail the fines imposed by the UK’s data privacy watchdog on Poxell Ltd and Skean Homes Ltd for making unsolicited marketing calls to individuals registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), resulting in 413 complaints to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Poxell faces a fine of £150,000 for making 2.6 million marketing calls, while Skean Homes is being fined £100,000 for making over 600,000 unsolicited marketing calls. Both companies were found to have violated the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation 2003. Andy Curry, head of investigations at the ICO, emphasized that the fines should serve as a clear message that companies will face decisive action for illegal marketing calls and that the public will be protected from nuisance marketing.
