Snyk, a developer-focused security company, has acquired Helios, a startup specializing in runtime application troubleshooting. This acquisition will enhance Snyk’s “cloud-to-code risk visibility” by combining Helios’ runtime data collection with the Snyk Developer Security Platform. The integration will provide Snyk customers with improved asset discovery, issue identification, and risk prioritization.

From the meeting notes, it appears that Snyk has acquired the startup Helios, which focuses on troubleshooting applications in runtime and production. The acquisition is aimed at enhancing Snyk’s “cloud-to-code risk visibility” by combining Helios’ runtime data collection and insights with the Snyk Developer Security Platform. This combination is intended to provide a comprehensive perspective of application risk throughout the software development lifecycle, from code to cloud.

The integration of Helios into Snyk’s services will provide Snyk customers with improved asset discovery, issue identification, and risk prioritization. Snyk aims to integrate Helios’ end-to-end application discovery service and OpenTelemetry-based runtime data collection tools into its AppRisk service to assist application security teams and developers in governing their security program. Additionally, Snyk customers will have access to end-to-end application discovery, risk-based prioritization, and full-stack runtime data collection to gain a holistic visibility of their entire application environment and determine where to focus remediation efforts.

This acquisition marks Snyk’s second in the area of developer-led application security posture management, following its previous acquisition of Enso Security. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but it is noted that the entire Helios team is expected to join Snyk’s research team.
