Iran Warship Aiding Houthi Pirates Hacked by US

US officials claimed a recent cyberattack on an Iranian military spy ship disrupted intelligence-gathering on Red Sea traffic used to aid Houthi rebels in piracy against cargo ships. The attack on the ship MV Behshad aimed to disrupt the sharing of reconnaissance technology with Houthi Rebels in Yemen, who target Red Sea shipping lanes.

It appears that US officials conducted a cyberattack on an Iranian military ship, the MV Behshad, which was allegedly gathering intelligence to aid Houthi rebels in piracy against cargo ships in the Red Sea. This disrupted the intelligence-gathering operation and impacted the shipping traffic in the region. The Houthi rebels, supported by Iran, have been targeting ships in the Red Sea purportedly in response to Israel’s military operation in Gaza. About 12% of daily shipping traffic passes through the Red Sea, making it an important international shipping lane.
