Personal information, including sensitive employment details and upcoming project materials, was compromised and leaked. Affected individuals are being offered extended ID protection and a dedicated support hotline as Insomniac and Sony address the security incident.
The meeting notes indicate that Insomniac Games, a subsidiary of Sony, has been a victim of a data breach and ransomware attack. Personal information of employees, former employees, and contractors was stolen and leaked online by the Rhysida ransomware group. The leaked information includes ID scans, internal documents, and screenshots of upcoming games. As a response, Insomniac Games is notifying affected individuals and providing them with additional years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services. Sony is extending the support to the affected employees through ID Watchdog services and a dedicated call center to address any questions. The situation has gained notable attention due to the actions of the Rhysida gang, including their previous attacks on organizations like the Chilean Army and British Library, as well as their associations with earlier attacks on U.S. healthcare organizations.
