Intel Core Ultra vPro Platform Brings New Security Features

Intel announced new security features with the latest vPro platform and premium Core Ultra processors, including AI capabilities and hardware-based authentication. The Silicon Security Engine secures devices against firmware threats, while Device Health goes beyond Microsoft’s Secured PC Core requirement. Threat Detection Technology now uses NPU-assisted anomaly detection, and Hardware Shield spans protections across hardware, firmware, OS, and apps.

From the meeting notes, it is clear that Intel has announced several new and enhanced security features as part of its latest vPro platform and premium Core Ultra processors:

1. The latest vPro platform is powered by the full lineup of 14th Gen Core processors.
2. New Intel Core Ultra processors are designed to empower artificial intelligence PCs for businesses, featuring dedicated AI acceleration across the CPU, GPU, and a new neural processing unit (NPU).
3. Intel introduced the Silicon Security Engine, a tool that enables hardware-based authentication for system firmware, providing protection against threats aimed below the operating system.
4. Device Health, a new feature, is designed to identify platform-level vulnerabilities and surpasses Microsoft’s Secured PC Core requirement.
5. Threat Detection Technology now uses NPU-assisted anomaly detection to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of third-party software in stopping threats.
6. The Hardware Shield feature now extends protections across hardware, firmware, OS, and apps to ensure PCs power on safely.

David Feng, Intel’s VP of Client Computing Group and GM of Client Segments, emphasized that the new Intel vPro platform with Intel Core Ultra aims to enhance productivity, security, manageability, and stability, enabling IT organizations to manage transitions confidently. Intel is also working with over 100 software vendors, Windows 11, and Copilot to deliver new AI experiences, making 2024 an optimal year for fleet refresh and AI readiness.

Additionally, it is noteworthy that Intel also highlighted its previous advancements in security with the 13th Gen Core vPro Platform, ransomware detection directly into the vPro Platform, and security enhancements for 12th Gen Core Processors.
