Starting April 2024, non-managed enterprise Windows 10 Pro devices will receive nag screens prompting a free upgrade to Windows 11. Users can choose to upgrade to Windows 11 23H2 or continue with Windows 10. These prompts will not appear on managed enterprise PCs. Windows 10 Pro’s support ends on October 14, 2025.

From the meeting notes, it is clear that Microsoft will be displaying ‘nag screens’ pushing the Windows 11 upgrade on non-managed enterprise devices running Windows 10 Pro and Pro Workstation, starting with the April 2024 Patch Tuesday security updates. These prompts will offer users the option to upgrade to Windows 11 23H2 or continue using Windows 10, with the ability to schedule the upgrade for minimal disruption.

It’s important to note that these nag screens will be limited to cloud-domain-joined and domain-joined enterprise PCs that meet Windows 11’s eligibility criteria. Devices managed by IT departments using specific management tools will not receive the upgrade prompts.

Additionally, Windows 10 Pro will reach the end of support on October 14, 2025, with the final version being 22H2, which will continue to receive monthly security updates until that date. Microsoft has also announced that it will force-install Windows 11 23H2 on eligible systems that have reached or are close to their end-of-servicing date.

Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that Windows 11, version 23H2 (the Windows 11 2023 Update), was released on October 31, following its rollout to devices enrolled in the Release Preview Insider Channel.

These are the key takeaways from the meeting notes regarding the upcoming Windows 11 upgrade prompts and the end of support for Windows 10 Pro.
