Broadcom announced the merger of Carbon Black and Symantec into a new unit focusing on integrating network and data telemetry with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) technologies. The new Enterprise Security Group will manage Broadcom’s cybersecurity portfolio and enhance the products of both companies for greater customer visibility and control.
After reviewing the meeting notes, it is evident that Broadcom has announced the merger of the Carbon Black and Symantec businesses into a new unit under the Enterprise Security Group. The objective is to integrate network and data telemetry with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) technologies. Rob Greer, VP and general manager of the new Enterprise Security Group, emphasized the benefits of combining the technologies, mentioning that R&D investment will be made to enhance the current products and extend their longevity. Both the Symantec and Carbon Black product portfolios will continue to operate in their current states, supported by the financial stability of Broadcom. This move follows Broadcom’s previous acquisitions, such as the purchase of Symantec back in 2019 for $10.7 billion and the recent $69 billion acquisition of VMware.
