Hoya Corporation was hit with a cyberattack by the ‘Hunters International’ ransomware operation, demanding a $10 million ransom and threatening to release stolen files. The attack impacted production and order processing, with IT outages across business divisions. As of now, Hoya hasn’t provided updates on their business status, and remediation efforts continue.

From the meeting notes, it is clear that Hoya Corporation recently experienced a cyberattack by the ‘Hunters International’ ransomware operation. The attackers demanded a $10 million ransom for a file decryptor and also threatened to release 1.7 million stolen files, amounting to 2 TB of data, if the ransom was not paid. The attack impacted production and order processing, leading to IT outages in several of Hoya’s business divisions. As of April 4, 2024, the company has not provided any updates on the business status, and it is assumed that production remains impacted and remediation efforts are still underway. Hunters International, a Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) operation, has been observed targeting companies in various industries, including hospitals, and their negotiation panel indicates a “No Negotiation / No Discount Policy” with Hoya. BleepingComputer has contacted Hoya for a comment on the recent developments, and we are awaiting their response.
