Enterprise AI transformation readiness requires devices capable of running AI applications. Absolute Security’s analysis found majority of organizations need system updates or replacements to be AI-ready. Absolute Security’s Cyber Resilience Risk Index 2024, based on telemetry from millions of devices, reveals most enterprise PCs lack the minimum 32 GB RAM for efficient AI handling. This capacity concern could divert resources from critical IT and security priorities, causing security gaps. Additionally, organizations struggle with patching compliance, but there has been slight improvement from 2023 to 2024.
From the meeting notes, it is clear that Absolute Security has conducted an analysis on the readiness of enterprises for AI transformation. The analysis found that the majority of organizations need to update or replace their systems to be AI-ready, with 92% of analyzed Windows machines not meeting the basic requirements for efficiently handling modern AI applications. The assessment is based on the recommendation that PCs should be equipped with a minimum of 32 GB of RAM and have either a stand-alone GPU or an integrated NPU to support AI applications.
Absolute Security also highlighted the potential implications of huge investments in AI-capable endpoint fleets, noting that they could divert budget and human resources away from critical IT and security priorities, leading to gaps in security and risk policies. Additionally, the company expressed concerns about the added complexity of new devices being added to the environment, which could necessitate defining new controls or adjusting workflows for patching and security measures.
Furthermore, Absolute Security noted that organizations are still lagging behind with patches, with most industries running weeks or months behind in complying with their own patching policies. Despite a marked improvement between 2023 and 2024, Windows 11 devices seem to be faring better than Windows 10 in terms of patch compliance.
Overall, the meeting notes indicate that organizations need to address the readiness of their systems for AI applications and consider the potential cybersecurity risk and resiliency implications of AI-capable endpoint fleets. Additionally, organizations should prioritize keeping up with patching and ensuring the right security controls are in place to mitigate security risks.
