Akamai to Acquire API Protection Startup Noname Security for $450 Million

Akamai to acquire API protection company Noname Security for $450 million in the second quarter of 2024. Noname is known for top API security and reaching unicorn status in 2021. Integration will enhance Akamai’s API Security solution and bring $20 million revenue in fiscal year 2024. Noname’s CEO and employees will join Akamai.

From the meeting notes, it is clear that Akamai announced its acquisition of Noname Security, a San Jose-based company known for its API security solutions. The acquisition is aimed at expanding Akamai’s existing API security offering and strengthening its sales and marketing resources. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2024, with Akamai paying approximately $450 million for all outstanding equity of Noname. Following the acquisition, Noname’s CEO and co-founder, Oz Golan, as well as the company’s 200 employees, are expected to join Akamai. Additionally, the integration of Noname’s solutions into Akamai’s platform is expected to benefit the latter’s Application and API platform customers.
