The update is now available for most devices, but another bug affects Taskbar display for Windows N edition users. Microsoft is working on fixing both issues.
The KB5039302 update for Windows 11 has been resumed by Microsoft after being temporarily halted due to a bug causing a reboot loop for some users. The update is now being blocked only for those using virtualization software. Microsoft has identified that the bug mainly affects devices utilizing virtual machine tools and nested virtualization features, such as CloudPC, DevBox, and Azure Virtual Desktop, with reports also mentioning VMware being affected.
An update to Windows Message Center confirms that the update is being resumed for most devices, with the offering now paused only for devices affected by the issue. Users who wish to install the update can now do so by running Windows Update as usual.
It’s important to note that the update also comes with another bug that may cause the Taskbar not to display properly for users of Windows N edition or those who have disabled the ‘Media Features’ feature. Therefore, Microsoft recommends holding off on installing the update if you fall into these categories.
Microsoft has stated that they are actively working on fixing both issues and will provide the solutions in an upcoming release.
