Zero trust security is an effective cybersecurity approach addressing modern threats by continuously verifying and monitoring all network activities. Despite complexity and resource needs, it offers improved security posture and risk reduction. ISC2 members identified barriers to implementation including cultural shift, cost, complexity, and poor user experience. ISC2 offers zero trust training, including communication, security, and risk management courses for cybersecurity professionals.
Based on the meeting notes, it is evident that zero trust security is highly regarded by ISC2 members, with many emphasizing the need for education and training across all levels of an organization. The barriers to implementing zero trust were underscored, with a particular focus on the shift in mindset required, resistance from employees, operational challenges, and integrating legacy technologies. Furthermore, expanded zero trust courses were announced, covering areas such as effective communication, strengthening security posture, and risk management and response.
The new courses are designed for cybersecurity professionals in advanced roles and offer opportunities to earn CPE credits. Additionally, ISC2 provides a comprehensive range of continuous education opportunities, including topics like Security Operations, Software Security, Cloud Security, and Cyber Leadership, to support ongoing professional development.
