Disney is investigating a data leak by hacker group NullBulge, who claim to have obtained 1.1 Tb of data from Disney’s internal Slack channels. The data allegedly includes unreleased projects, source code, and login credentials. Disney is yet to verify the breach, but has confirmed they are investigating the matter.
Based on the meeting notes, it appears that Disney is currently investigating a potential data breach after a hacker group, known as NullBulge, claimed to have leaked 1.1 Tb of data allegedly from Disney’s internal Slack channels. The leaked data reportedly includes messages and files from 10,000 channels, as well as information on unreleased projects, source code, login credentials, and links to internal APIs and web pages. The hackers suggested that they gained access to the data after compromising an employee’s account. Disney has yet to respond to SecurityWeek’s inquiry but has confirmed to CNN that they are investigating the matter. The hackers describe themselves as “hacktivist group protecting artists’ rights and ensuring fair compensation for their work.” It’s also worth noting that Nullbulge has been in the news previously for abusing an extension for a popular AI tool to steal users’ login credentials. A security expert, Roger Grimes, expressed the importance of addressing the breach and emphasized that even companies with strong cybersecurity measures can still experience security incidents.
