MarineMax, the world’s largest boat and yacht retailer, disclosed a data breach by the Rhysida ransomware gang, impacting over 123,000 individuals. The breach, detected on March 10, 2024, resulted in the theft of personal information and financial documents. Rhysida, a notorious ransomware group, has a history of targeting organizations across multiple sectors, including healthcare and gaming.

Based on the meeting notes, it has been revealed that MarineMax, a recreational boat and yacht retailer, experienced a security breach resulting in the theft of personal information of over 123,000 individuals. The breach was claimed by the Rhysida ransomware gang, and it occurred from March 1, 2024, to March 10, 2024. The stolen data includes names and personal identifier information, although the full extent of the compromised personal information has not been disclosed. Additionally, it is uncertain whether the breach affected both customers and employees. The Rhysida ransomware gang has publicized a 225GB archive of files from MarineMax’s network on their dark web leak site, including financial documents, driver’s licenses, and passports. This attack is attributed to a relatively new ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) operation called Rhysida, which has been linked to previous high-profile breaches and is known for targeting various industry sectors, including healthcare organizations.
