Tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, co-founder of Darktrace and Autonomy, is one of six presumed dead after the superyacht, Bayesian, sank off the coast of Sicily during a storm. 15 of the 22 people on board have been rescued, while Lynch, his daughter, and others remain missing. Darktrace was sold to Thoma Bravo in 2024.

From the meeting notes, we can summarize that British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, co-founder of Darktrace and Autonomy, is presumed dead after the superyacht, Bayesian, sank off the coast of Sicily. The yacht was caught in a severe storm, resulting in the rescue of 15 people, confirmation of one death, and six individuals, including Lynch and his daughter, still missing. Additionally, Jonathan Bloomer, the chairman of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife are also among the missing.

It’s also worth noting that Darktrace, founded in 2013, offers an AI-powered threat detection and response platform, with Lynch’s company, Invoke Capital, being an early investor. In April 2024, Darktrace agreed to sell itself to Thoma Bravo for approximately $5.32 billion in cash.

Lastly, Lynch had previously faced accusations of inflating the value of Autonomy before it was sold to Hewlett Packard in 2011, but was acquitted of all charges in June.
