Oregon Zoo states that customers who purchased tickets online between December 2023 and June 2024 had their payment card information compromised due to a phishing incident. Personal information, including full names, payment card numbers, CVVs, and expiration dates, was exposed. The zoo is notifying 117,815 individuals and offering credit monitoring and identity protection services.

Based on the meeting notes, it has been identified that Oregon Zoo experienced a data breach that resulted in the exposure of sensitive customer information, including full names, payment card numbers, CVV numbers, and expiration dates. The breach occurred between December 2023 and June 2024, impacting 117,815 individuals who made online ticket purchases during this period. To address the situation and protect affected customers, Oregon Zoo has taken several measures, including decommissioning the compromised online ticketing service, conducting an investigation, and deploying a new, more secure payments portal.

Additionally, the zoo is providing free 12-month credit monitoring and identity protection services to the affected individuals. Recipients of the data breach notification are advised to be cautious of unsolicited communications, closely monitor their account activity, report any suspicious transactions to their card issuer, and consider requesting their bank to invalidate existing payment cards and issue replacements.
